About Barista Tears
The founders of Barista Tears met as members of the Bae Area Coffee Club, where we kept gravitating toward the same coffees, had the same calibrated palates, and the same obsessive drive to push every cup further. We traded burrs, split bags, swapped water recipes, and eventually realized we all shared the same conclusion: off-the-shelf mineral products were inconsistent, dull, and holding us back.
Then came the turning point. One of us started spiking brew water with small amounts of freshly collected spring water from Red Rock Spring on the California coast. The effect was immediate: deeper texture, more vibrancy, more expression than anything lab-grade minerals could produce. That brilliance faded within days, which sent us driving across the state - even as far as Mount Shasta, hunting new springs and seeking answers.
So we chased minerals the same way we chased gear. Rare sources, obscure origins, strange little pockets of the world—each new find became a friendly competition to see who could unlock the next fractional gain. We mapped PPM thresholds, tracked where minerals fell off, and built a shared language around extraction behavior.
The instability of fresh spring water didn’t discourage us. It gave us a mission. If nature could create magic that disappeared, we wanted to understand it well enough to recreate it and make it stable. We bought identical brewing equipment to standardize on, met weekly for marathon tastings, ran daily virtual sessions, and tested hundreds of natural mineral sources across thousands of cups with controlled variables and precise sensory mapping. What emerged wasn’t a formula. It was a mineral matrix that didn’t just echo natural spring water; it surpassed it in clarity, structure, and extraction dynamics.
We built this for ourselves. For that moment when the water disappears and the coffee speaks.
Everything changed when we saw a coffee water mineral company advertising “seasoning” brews with heavy-handed blends that masked a coffee’s intent into submission instead of elevating it. People were paying for the promise of elevation and getting mediocrity, complicated products, and painful workflows. They weren’t even packaged to preserve their state properly. We knew we had something better. Water shouldn’t be a seasoning or a recipe you rebuild every brew. It shouldn’t impact workflow, and it should provide a forgiving, stable, and consistent canvas that lets the coffee’s intent shine and lets you focus on the craft of brewing.
We encourage you to try other mineral products before trying Barista Tears. Get first-hand experience with the complex recipes and the tedious workflow. If you find them easy, convenient, and you like the cups you’re getting, don’t buy our product. If you don’t believe natural minerals make a substantial difference to extraction and think synthetic, refined, and lab-grade minerals are sufficient, don’t buy our product—we’re not here to convince you. Enjoy what you’re doing today.
We’ll never pay for endorsements, sponsor champions, or hand out free product to influencers. Every opinion you read will come from someone who bought it, just like you.
This is our passion.
